How to get setup with Archipelago.gg

Post by Ciaran »

If you've never used Archipelago before, check out their website to see what they're about and what games are officially supported.
You will need the Archipelgo Client which you can download from their Github Page, grab the "latest" release, and only grab a Pre-Release Release Candidate if you know what you're doing.
If you're on Linux, grab the .tar.xz or the .appimage
If you're on Windows, grab the .exe and install it.
You can get more information from their Setup Page
To play you will need to configure a YAML file for your specific game which will set the parameters the randomizer will use to generate the seed.
If you're playing a non-official game, you'll need the respective .apworld which you can get from their discord server or wheverver the developer has posted it. This can be installed from the Archipelago Launcher directly and it will place the .apworld in the correct folder.
Only the player running the game and player generating game require a copy of the .apworld.

If you're using Retroarch, you will need to go into Network Settings and enable Network Commands - that's it.
For Snes9x-rr you will need to grab the respective lua scripts to enable the lua bridge to connect to the SNI client - which communicates to and from the server.
If you're using a SNES or Super Famicom you will need QUSB2SNES and to plug in a USB cable from your computer to the FX Pak Pro cartridge with the ROM loaded.
It should be detected in QUSB2SNES and the SNI client at that point.

For anything else you'll need to look up a guide (And please post your steps here) as I only have experience on Retroarch and Super Nintendo using an FX Pak Pro.

NOTE: Do not post links to ROMs here whether they are vanilla or randomized, I advise co-ordinating elsewhere whether it be on Steam, Teamspeak, Discord or anywhere else you can upload files.
Once you're setup - that's it and happy multi-world multi-gaming.
